Frans Captijn (Gangey Gruma Báisjá), founder of the Captijn Insight website.
May I introduce myself to you?
My name is Frans Captijn, originally from The Netherlands / Europe. I have lived in Thailand since May 2012.
After a traffic accident, at the end of 2010, I changed my life definitively. I stopped my activities as a CEO, and started to live my calling, my mission, at a location in which I felt more at home: Asia.
Briefly, this calling compels me to use my background and growth experiences in becoming a catalyst for change: My change process facilitates transformation into (new) growth and renewed flow.
Because of the 180 degrees change in my life, LIVING life now in an intense and much more connected way, I automatically also changed my lifestyle. Actually 'doing nothing' helped me to get rid of 10 kg of body weight. I no longer need medicines against high blood pressure and stress is a distant memory. I now embrace the feeling of living two lives in one lifetime, something I am very grateful and thankful for.
For over 30 years I have been active in various management positions and for most of the past 10 years as CEO of a Dutch so-called Safety Region (picture on the right side from June 2010). My work was in the international world of physical safety, emergency response and crisis management. I worked as a regional commander / director of fire-brigade and medical emergency services and first responder as a disaster manager for worldwide interventions of the International Red Cross / Red Crescent.
In Thailand I have worked the past five years, until the beginning of 2018, in holistic healthcare (Healthcare Tourism) at a wonderful wellness location, a place where I am still happy and thankful to live.
My education: I have worked as a constructional engineer and architect in the hospitality industry and as Master of Crisis and Disaster Management.
Additionally for more than eight years I have studied and practiced personal development, organizational development and change, life- and talent coaching, acting, meditation and philosophy, throughout the Netherlands, Belgium and Thailand. A still ongoing process with in-depth studies of Buddhist Philosophy, Kundalini Yoga, Tantric work and learning by experience.
Sharing my stories and experiences on this website is part of the foundation and motivation for my work as a catalyst, giving people and organizations (new) flow out of inner strength.
In 2010 my first (Dutch) book "Expedition to personal mastery" was published. Every week I write a blog about what I experience, what excites me in what I am experiencing, and about my new insights. My goal is not to dictate "truth" but to share different perspectives on the universal truths. I offer the free opportunity to grow together by sparking curiosity and the possibility to develop an even greater truth within our collective realities.
It inspires me to see people and organizations discover and experience how valuable they are and to realize what they can achieve with their (latent) inner strengths, talents and inner wisdom: To discover the deeper and greater purpose of and in life and in doing business.
With my website I offer unconventional approaches. These are methods that work as a catalysts, creating opportunities for undiscovered unfolding insights and sustainable solutions that will arise from the inside of each individual as part of a collective whole.
A lot of my personal inspiration in being thankful and grateful for the possibility to live and share my life mission I received from the words of the 8th-century Indian Buddhist monk Santideva:
May I be a guard for those who are protectorless,
A guide for those who journey on the road.
For those who wish to go across the water,
May I be a boat, a raft, a bridge.
May I be an isle for those who yearn for landfall,
And a lamp for those who long for light;
For those who need a resting-place, a bed;
For all who need a help, may I be their servant.
May I be the wishing jewel, the vase of plenty,
A word of power and the supreme healing.
May I be the tree of miracles,
And for every being the abundant cow.
Like the earth and the pervading elements,
Enduring as the sky itself endures.
For boundless multitudes of living beings,
May I be their ground and sustenance.
Thus for every thing that lives,
As far as are the limits of the sky,
May I provide their livelihood and nourishment
Until they pass beyond the bonds of suffering.
- Shantideva –
As long as space endures,
As long as there are beings to be found,
May I continue likewise to remain
To drive away the sorrows of the world.
